Acceptance of the General and Specific Conditions of Use

Access to and/or usage of the Application “Glass Configurator” requires the prior acceptance of the General Conditions of Use of the YourGlass Platform and the Specific Conditions of Use of the Glass Configurator.

The User accepts explicitly and unconditionally to be bound by these General and Specific Conditions of Use, to the exclusion of any general or particular terms or conditions of the user.

Rights of Access to and Use of the Application Free of Charge

AGC Glass Europe SA accepts to grant the user the right of access to and usage of the Application “Glass Configurator” free of charge, provided that the User uses the Application for his or her own use only, that the data used and/or provided by the tool will not be duplicated for the use of any third party, transmitted to any third party or on any technological device and/or sold to any third party without the prior written permission of AGC Glass Europe SA.

The right of access to and use of the Application is conditional, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sub-licensable and is not understood as a transfer of any proprietary right (intellectual or otherwise) of any element of the Application.

Intended Use of the Tool

The AGC Glass Configurator is a simulation tool providing a performance analysis for the limited purpose of assisting the user in evaluating the performance of the glass configuration identified in this report. The estimated performance is only applicable for glass products manufactured or processed by AGC. It does not replace an official Declaration of Performance and therefore may contain some variations, although AGC has made every effort to verify the reliability of this simulation tool. The user assumes any risk relating to the results provided by the tool and is solely responsible for the selection of the appropriate glass configuration for the user's application.

Applicability

The applicability and results of the analysis are directly related to user inputs. Any real life in situ conditions can have a significant effect on the results as many factors may have an influence on glass performances.

Many different glass configurations and glass make-ups can be generated using this tool. AGC makes no guarantee that any glass configuration modeled by the tool is available on the market or that the resulting glass configuration meets regulatory requirements at international, national or regional level.

Technical specifications

Specifications, technical and other data are based on information available at the time of use of the Glass Configurator and are subject to change without notice.

Spectral data of AGC glass products1 reflect typical production samples, which are subject to tolerances. Spectral data for products not manufactured by AGC were derived from the LBNL International Glazing Database or were received from producers.

Many factors may influence the performances of a glass configuration, such as glazing dimensions, the glazing shape, the supporting system, the type of frame, building orientation, environment, shading, loads, and others.

Light, energy and thermal properties

  • Calculation according to EN 410 and EN 673

The data are calculated using spectral data that are conform to standards EN 410 and ISO 9050. The emissivity data comply with standards EN 673 (Annex A) and EN 12898. The Ug-value is calculated according to standard EN 673 and is related to the center of the glazing.

The Glass Configurator module related to the calculation of performances according to standards EN 673 and EN 410 is validated by INISMa (report N° 2018B COU 35741). It is the user’s responsibility to check that the resulting performances meet regulatory requirements at international, national or/and regional level.

  • Calculation according to NFRC

Spectral data conform to standards EN 410 and ISO 9050. The emissivity data conform to NFRC. NFRC certified software should be used for NFRC certified values.

  • Calculation according to JIS 1307

Spectral and emissivity data conform to JIS 1307. JIS certified software should be used for JIS certified values.

Safety & Security properties

Safety and security properties are tested according to standards:

EN 13501-2 - Resistance to fire
EN 13501-1 - Reaction to fire
EN 1063 - Bullet resistance
EN 356 - Burglar resistance
EN 12600 - Pendulum body impact resistance
EN 13541 - Explosion resistance

When the specific standard allows it, extrapolation rules are applied for glass configurations which are not tested.

Fire resistant properties of Pyrobel, Pyrobelite and Pyropane are tested in many combinations of dimensions, frames, inclination and construction (walls, corners or overhead glazing).

Acoustics properties

  • Tested acoustic performances – Rw (C;Ctr), STC and OITC

The sound reduction indexes correspond to glazing with dimensions 1230 mm by 1480 mm according to EN ISO 10140 series and are tested in laboratory conditions. In-situ performances may vary according to the effective glazing dimensions, supporting system, installation, environment, noise sources etc. The accuracy of the given indexes is +/- 1 dB.

Rw (C;Ctr) indexes are given according to EN 717-1.

STC (Sound transmission class) is calculated according to ASTM E413

OITC (Outdoor/indoor transmission class) is calculated according to ASTM E1332.

  • Estimated acoustic performances – Rw (C;Ctr), STC and OITC

The sound reduction indexes are estimated and neither tested, nor calculated. They correspond to glazing with dimensions 1230 mm by 1480 mm according to EN ISO 10140 series. In-situ performances may vary according to the effective glazing dimensions, supporting system, installation, environment, noise sources etc. The accuracy of the given indexes is +/- 2 dB.

Declaration of performance

The Declaration of Performance (DoP) conforms to the Construction Products Regulation CPR No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. The CE marking indicates that a construction product is in conformity with its declared performance and that it has been assessed according to a harmonised European standard or a European Technical Assessment has been issued for it.

Thermal and chemical treatment of glass products

Reinforcement of mechanical properties of some glass products is achieved by thermal toughening, heat strengthening and chemical strengthening. It’s the user’s responsibility to check if the selected product can undergo the fore mentioned processes. This information is available in the corresponding processing guide. AGC strongly recommends to heat-soak test thermally toughened glass, available on request.

Product standards

AGC products are produced according to product standards, which contain different information such as definition, physical properties, tolerances, acceptance criteria and others.

The list of harmonized European standards is indicated below:
